IT that works at agency speed. Configured for your AMS, ready for your E&O.

Managed IT and cybersecurity for independent and captive insurance agencies across Southern Wisconsin and the Chicago metro. Built around how agencies actually work: AMS open all day, carrier portals in every tab, and a producer waiting on a bind.

// The agency problem

Your IT is business-critical. Treat it that way.

A modern insurance agency runs on software. AMS, carrier portals, rating engines, e-signature tools, scanning workflows, phones, email. When one of those fails, producers can't bind, CSRs can't service, and commissions stop moving.

Most agencies are 3-15 person shops — too small for an in-house IT team, too specialized for a generic "computer guy." The gap is where most agencies live: paying for IT that doesn't understand insurance, or paying nothing and absorbing the downtime.

BadgerLayer is the middle ground. We know which carrier portal needs Edge instead of Chrome, why your printer drops every Tuesday, and what your E&O carrier expects in your next cybersecurity questionnaire. Local, reachable, and priced for agencies that don't need enterprise IT overhead.

// What downtime actually costs

A day in your agency, priced out.

For a typical 5-producer agency, here's what common IT failures actually cost in lost revenue and productivity. Not theoretical — real math from real agencies.

What regulators and carriers actually require.

Most agency owners know they should have "cybersecurity" but aren't sure exactly what's required. Here's how common E&O carrier requirements, Wisconsin DOI expectations, and the NAIC Model Law align — and how we map each to real controls.

// How we work

Four commitments to every agency client.

The operating principles that make agencies trust us with AMS access, E&O documentation, and the phones that ring when a producer is stuck.

I

Local & reachable

Real phone number, real people, based in Whitewater. Not a ticket queue forwarded to an overseas call center. When the AMS is down and a producer is mid-bind, you get a human.

II

Insurance literate

We know the difference between a commercial policy's binder and its declarations page. We know why your rater needs pop-ups enabled and why the carrier portal logs you out at 4pm. Not a universal tech guy — an agency tech guy.

III

Documented, E&O-ready

Every control, every policy, every piece of security infrastructure documented in a format you can hand to your E&O carrier at renewal. No more panic before the annual cybersecurity questionnaire.

IV

Flat-rate, predictable

Monthly billing with no surprise hours or emergency surcharges. The price on the quote is the price every month. Budget once, renew annually, no hourly meter ticking in the background.

Do you support AMS360, EZLynx, Applied Epic, and HawkSoft?
Yes. We configure workstations and networks for all major agency management systems including AMS360, EZLynx, Applied Epic, HawkSoft, QQCatalyst, and NowCerts. We handle the local endpoint side: proper browser configuration, download management, print integration, MFA setup, and troubleshooting when the AMS isn't behaving. For AMS vendor-specific issues, we coordinate with their support on your behalf so you're not on hold explaining the problem.
What are the cybersecurity requirements for insurance agencies in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin's Office of the Commissioner of Insurance requires agencies to maintain reasonable information security controls to protect non-public consumer information (NPI). While Wisconsin hasn't adopted the NAIC Insurance Data Security Model Law in full like some states have, most E&O carriers now require MFA, endpoint protection, encryption, documented backup, and security training as a condition of coverage. We align agency environments to these requirements and keep the documentation ready for audits or questionnaires.
Can you help with our E&O insurance cybersecurity requirements?
Yes. Most E&O carriers now require basic cybersecurity controls to maintain coverage: MFA on email and AMS, endpoint protection, regular backups, documented incident response, and employee training. At renewal they send a cybersecurity questionnaire. We implement each control and document it so your annual renewal isn't a scramble. When the questionnaire arrives, we help you complete it accurately.
What does IT support cost for a small insurance agency?
For a typical 5-producer agency, flat-rate managed IT runs $250 to $400 per month including all support, cybersecurity, and AMS troubleshooting. Solo producers are $99-$149 per month. Mid-sized agencies with 15+ producers run $500-$900 per month depending on locations and complexity. There are no surprise hours or emergency fees — the monthly price is what you pay. Quotes are customized after a short call to understand your setup.
Do you work with captive agents like Farmers, State Farm, or Allstate?
Yes. Captive agents have parent-corporation IT requirements we respect and work around. We focus on what the parent company doesn't cover: local workstation support, office network, printers, phones, and cybersecurity beyond what corporate provides. We've worked with Farmers agents before and understand how to coordinate with corporate IT policies without stepping on them.
Can you help us recover from a ransomware attack or data breach?
Yes, though prevention is the goal. For active incidents, we coordinate with your E&O carrier, provide incident response documentation, and restore systems from backups. For regulatory reporting to the Wisconsin DOI or other state regulators, we help you meet the timeline requirements (typically 3-5 business days for NPI breaches). The right setup beforehand — immutable backups, EDR, MFA everywhere — reduces damage dramatically and often prevents ransomware from succeeding in the first place.
How do you handle email encryption for NPI?
We configure Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace with encrypted email delivery for messages containing non-public information. For agencies that send a lot of NPI, we can set up auto-detection rules (SSNs, DOBs, driver's license numbers) that trigger encryption automatically so producers don't have to remember. Recipients get a secure portal link to view the encrypted message.
Can you migrate us from another IT provider?
Yes. Most migrations take 2-4 weeks and include documenting what we inherit, installing our management tools, transitioning email and backup services, and training your team on support channels. We coordinate with the outgoing provider when possible and handle the transition with minimal interruption to producer workflows.
